1)My previous EFL teachers were conventional English teachers, indeed. I think they had old but definitely valid techniques related to language teaching. I always appreciated their efforts despite some colourless and ordinary lessons in consequence of their excessive adherence to subject matters. Perhaps they were unaware of this problem and, to some extent, unable to modify their lesson plans. I think they weren't flexible and open-minded enough unlike post-method era teachers. I can make an analogy between them and post-method era teachers in that they all were eclectic teachers. I can easily state that they didn't adhere to only one, restricted method. Thanks to their experience in the profession, they always made our lectures informative by utilizing different techniques from different methods.
ReplyDelete2)I think that English lessons should be more informative, colourful and enjoyable for students because learning a new language is a great sense and they should be aware of this pleasure. I know that being a post-method teacher is a hard target because conditions determine the flow of lessons and sometimes our expectations and wishes won't be proper for the classroom atmosphere. However, as I have mentioned, I have some basic and worthy strategies which I have chosen for my future profession from this era such as promoting learner autonomy and integrating language skills. I really want to teach my students how to learn and how to use all language skills effectively and pragmatically, like post-method era teachers.
3)A postmethod EFL student should have the capacity of taking the responsibility of his/her own learning process because teacher should be only a guide. He/She should be open to questionings, new strategies and techniques. Being active in class is also essential for gaining communication skills. In Turkey, students usually remain passive and expect everything from the teacher without making any effort. This gives rise to irresponsibilities and insufficient information flow.
1.My previous English teachers mostly used Grammar Translation Method in their lessons. They wrote all the rules on the board and then wanted to us make sentences applying these rules into sentences. I couldn’t remember any of my teachers teaches us grammar rules deductively .However, In high school there were some teachers that I really appreciated. They were using too many activities during the lesson to attract our attention to the subject. When we were bored, they could change the activity. Furthermore, they encouraged us to speak in English. They emphasized not only grammar but also reading, speaking, listening, writing in English so I think my high school teacher resemble post method era teacher in terms of using different, enjoyable and useful activities while teaching the lessons.
ReplyDelete2. Last term we learned a lot of methods, techniques, principles but I found none of them perfect. They all have problem as a whole but if I use their some parts, I think my lesson will be useful and enjoyable. As a post method era teacher I want to teach my students why learning a language is important so their motivation to learn a language will increase. I am aware that I will deal with human being and everything happen during the lesson I should be aware of their needs.
3.A post method students should be aware of their own shortcoming and do their best to get rid of these shortcomings. They should be aware of their responsibilities. They don’t expect everything from the teacher, sometimes teacher can forget something related to topic . Students can also make the lesson more enjoyable, they can offer their teachers activities, songs, films about the topic. The more they active, the more lessons will be useful for them. I see most of the Turkish student being passive during the lesson, they do their homework, listen the lesson and go. They don’t endeavor to make lesson colorful.
1.Frankly speaking my previous EFL teachers were not good at applying the principals of post method era in their lectures. Almost all lessons were based on grammatical rules and reading activities which are not enough to learn a language completely. I think they had limited perspectives in language teaching because they were usually not enough to respond our needs. That’s why I can say that they are different from post method era teachers pretty much. Post method era teacher are quite eclectic, they are sufficient to respond students needs because they know which works best in what condition and they don’t hesitate to try different methods, so I believe that they are open minded, flexible and creative in oppose to my previous teachers who had strict rules for lecturing, which are generally obsolete. However, as the lessons were quite informative, maybe we learned so much but without having fun and they were far from creativity contrary to post-method era teachers’ courses.
ReplyDelete2.As a student (for now) I believe that I know the needs of students, I know how a class hour is spend with fun and also sufficient lecture information. Even in my second year in university, I have learned so much about methods and techniques, and I can also observe their drawbacks and advantages and how they can be used efficiently and effectively. I think every class, indeed every student is unique so if I use a single method, I cannot be a sufficient teacher to respond their needs, to keep them awake and willing to learn because there would be nothing to attract their attention. In addition, I strongly believe that teaching the topic in a funny atmosphere, let the students be creative and relax is very important.
3.A post method EFL student is an active learner. His/her role in class is to contribute discussions, share insights, and most importantly to be an active participant in his/her own learning. That is, student’s contribution to the construction of knowledge in the class is quite important. In addition, an EFL student enjoys the learning experience through the activities, games, discussions and so many different creative lecturing techniques presented by teacher. Basically in Turkey, students are accustomed to teacher-centered education and instead of active participation in their own learning they are supposed to be passive and to remain always sitting and listening position in the class and this destroys their creativity, willingness to learn and self sufficiency as opposed to post-method era student.
1)I had more than 3 teachers in high school, and some of them reflects the characteristics of post method era.For example, he used many ways to attract our attention to lesson without being stick to only one method.Sometimes he used grammar translation method to teach us some grammatical structures, and also he used authentic materials or speaking activities to teach us grammatical items. As for listening and speaking, he had various activities to improve our abilities. On the other hand, I had a teacher who used only Grammar Translation Method. He wrote the rules on the board, and wanted us to write them our notebooks. Also, he made us some translations to teach us grammar, and the only different thing that he made is to give us multiple choice questions, but i think that he helped us a lot to learn it.
ReplyDelete2) I think that using only one method does not work in teaching language because there are many students in classroom, and each of them has a uniqe character, so it is hard to adress each student by using only one method.A language teacher should be flexible, and appeal to each student, so we (as EFL teachers) should use various activities, and methods for our students to make them more active in lesson.
3)Firstly, post method era is student centered, but in our country, education is teacher centered.Students are passive in lessons, and they only listen what teacher says, they do not contribute to the lesson. The other thing is that teacher should be flexible, and tolerable in post method era, but in our country teachers are usually stick to one method, and they do not want to be flexible to their students to make them active in the lessons.
1-I cannot say my previous EFL teachers definitely reflected the characteristics of the post-method era although some of them were very effective and equipped teachers. Most of them taught us the lesson by writing the grammatical rules on the board, making modal sentences and also making us make modal sentences related to the subject, distributing us some worksheets or examples. After we grapped what the teacher wanted to teach, we usually solved the pilot or other related tests. Sometimes, we made some different activities such as playing card games, making interview, reading and listening activities; however, they were rare. Namely, they were fixed to some techniques and they did not change their ways of teaching unlike the post-method era teachers. While they make use of different types of strategies, pep up the classroom atmosphere, give a chance to students to improve themselves more, my teachers teach the subject and pass it. Maybe, we learn lots of things very well by that way, but only them, not something apart from them in terms of liberal education, society; namely, they do not meet our needs and deficiencies in my opinion.
ReplyDelete2-I have learned a lot of methods, techniques about ELT; however I see that most of them have some missing or wrong points, there isn’t any method that I can say that I support it and I will use it while teaching in my class. In my opinion, first, we, as EFL teachers, should know our students as they all have different characteristics and abilities, we should not tell them ‘learning this language is your work and you have to study’. Moreover, we should be flexible, tolerable and know how to make the atmosphere relaxing and colorful as learning is easier and enjoyable in that class.
3-A post-method era student should be capable of acclimatizing to new strategies; s/he should be able to participate in activities, discussions, games in the class. S/he should know to be active and her/his own teacher; s/he shouldn’t sit and wait everything from her/her EFL teacher and should see the teacher as a guide. As EFL teacher is a guide she/he will show the way the student will follow and the student should find the stripes on her/his way. However, in Turkey, students are passive and there is a teacher-centered system, they do not do anything to contribute something to the lesson, their teachers are responsible of everything.
1.In our country, as you know, not much attention is given to the skills that are necessary for using a foreign language productively. Sometimes teachers’ attempts are useless or vain but they can be really skillful sometimes. My previous EFL teachers were not the same, of course. Some of them really motivated us to learn, but the general way of their teaching English was the grammar translation method. They tried to use different activities (speaking, listening), though. However, it is questionable how effective these activities were. I cannot say that they were useful and effective. The reason for that is that they gave more attention to grammar because we were preparing for university entrance exam. So, they didn’t give enough time or didn’t give enough and careful attention to these activities.
ReplyDelete2.I can pick up something from each method as long as it is useful in my classroom. I have learned many different techniques, and not every one of them is useful or appropriate for teaching English, I think. More attention should be given to the students because they should be active during the lessons. Therefore using different methods; making a mixture of them-provided that they meet students’ needs- is necessary, since using different ways and strategies will help students learn the language more easily and also get pleasure from what they are doing.
3.A post-method era student should be able to use different skills at different times, rather than sticking up to one thing. Namely, for instance, if a student has more ability in reading, he or she should improve the other necessary skills for language learning. To achieve this, active participation of students is important in terms of their own learning. It is also teachers’ responsibility to create a learning environment where students can improve themselves. If the teacher does everything in a class, it is meaningless to try to make students learn themselves. This shouldn’t be a case for a typical post-method EFL student. However, we usually come across such situations in Turkey. Post-method era students should be active in learning process.
1)Throughout our English learning process, we faced with many English teachers. they all had different learning strategies. However I can say that they had basically the same techniques. They mostly used Grammar Translation Method which is an inductive method. I think this method lead us to memorize subjects and it is not a good way for learning. In this sense our teachers were not using Post-method Era techniques. They had specific and strict rules. They made standardization about every rule and there was no flexibility. However I can also say that some of our teachers were a bit more flexible than others. They were generally new-graduated and they were closer to new techniques in Post-method Era. The atmosphere of the classroom and teachers themselves were more flexible. They were not bounded to just one rule.According to the progress and the mood of the students they could modify the changes. But as I said before this kind of teachers compose only a small portion of the teachers who use Post-method era techniques in Turkey.
ReplyDelete2)First of all I believe that language learning should be develop in a natural context. It should be in the way of our first language acquisition. To achieve this I believe that the atmosphere of the classroom should be enjoyable and away from stress. Language learning is something causes to stress already. we should minimize this firstly. I want to create an enjoyable, friendly and flexible atmosphere. My students should feel comfort as they are talking to me. By asking questions and feeling relax, they will have autonomy and researh skills. This will lead to self-learning ability which is a more effective way of learning. Beside flexibility I can teach all aspects of the language. Learning souldn't be bound to just one rule. I think to collaborate all the techniques which we have learned so far. Because they all have at least one good point. If I choose only one technique and apply it, the weak parts of that technique will cause to troublesome and effect students' learning process badly. But generally I am sure I will use post-method era techniques.
3)I think a typical post-method EFL student is the one who knows the importance of responsibilty of learning and use it. S/he should be aware of the self-learning process and should know that teacher is not authority but guide. S/he should be active in the learning process, should learn to correct his or her own mistekes by himself/herself.S/he should learn to adapt the changing and modify himself/herself accordingly. However in Turkey students are mostly passive who want everything from their teachers. They think teaching is only the job of the teacher. They don't even try to learn by themselves.
1-)There were two types of teachers in my high school. One was who used the traditional methods to teach English and the other was who were open to the innovations. The lessons of first king of teachers were realy boring for me. They mainly used the Grammar Translation Method. they wrote a rule on the board and students were expected to learn it.On the other hand the others' lessons were really enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThey were following the post method era tecniques and they were able to adopt the new methods. They had very different tecniques varying from lesson to lesson. A student could not get bored easliy in these lessons. In other words, they were flexible. They had not a single or permanent method. They adopted the method which they belived to be the most effective for studens' learning. Unfortunately, the number of these kind of teachers are very low in Turkey. My goal is to be one like them.
2-)In Turkey, you can not predict the atmosphere of the school where you are going to be teacher. There are millions of different kinds of students.Being a post method era teacher is very nice , but it is not so easy. I'm aware of this fact and I plan to overcome this difficulty by using some tactics: Firstly, I should know the characteristic features of my class.I should learn what they like, how they learn easily in general and most importantly how ı can attract their attention. I can make a survey for this issue. I will use Contextualized linguistic Input method by providing my students with special texts and readings. I will use Integrate Learning skills beacuse I don't want to focus on just one skill. I should study on how to make a lesson for developing listening speaking reading and writing skills of students. I should use very interesting and unique activities to be a colorful teacher.
3-)A student should be active in learning process if s/he wants to be called a Post Method Era method. S/he should take responsibilty of her or his learning. Teacher is expected to be only a guide in this method. Students should question, analyse and be aware of their deveopment. In other words, they should be able to evaluate themselves. They should talk, say their opinion and be helpful to teacher for the flow of the course. When we have a look at students' profile in Turkey, we can easily state that students are passive and expect teacher to shape their learning process. Most students are far from the being a Post Method Era student in Turkey.
1) One of my previous EFL teachers was a post-method era teacher. She had the all characteristics of post-method era. She was open minded, flexible and creative. She was like a guide rather than an authority. She was a great teacher and I decided to become an English teacher thanks to her. However, my high school EFL teacher was a bit conventional. He was the authority in the class and he didn't care about being creative. He was interested in preparing us for the foreign language exam. Also he wasn't very flexible. Nevertheless, he was also a great teacher because he was able to teach everything very effectively. He had his own teaching style and it was very fun to have a lesson with him.
ReplyDeleteI think there aren't many post-method era teacher in Turkey at least for the time being. Most teacher are still under the influence of conventional teaching strategies and since they are not so open minded, it is difficult for them to accept and apply the post-method era's principles to their courses.
2) Being a post-method era is not something easy in Turkey because in some areas the students and parents are not ready for it. They can be tied to the traditional teaching styles so they can find strange the techniques of a post-method era. However, I will try to be a good post-modern era teacher because the new era requires it. I believe that I will be an effective post-method era teacher. I will try to implement the micro and macro strategies in my courses. In short, I will do everything necessary for my student when they are learning English effectively.
3) A characteristic post-method EFL student is open minded and ready to learn. He/she can involve the learning process actively and also he/she can adapt to new situations easily during the learning process. He/she should get feedback from the teacher. EFL students in Turkey are sometimes not open minded and also they can't adapt the new learning techniques easily. They aren't motivated enough to actively participate in the lesson. Some students don't care about the feedback from the teacher. So most of the EFL students in Turkey need time to be a post-method student.
1) All of the teachers have teaching strategies and philosophy in their teaching career. These strategies are of course different from each other. Every teacher has their own teaching style, which makes them effective or ineffective. Being a good teacher in the eyes of students is the most important thing for all teachers. In order to achieve this, they must create unique, creative, productive, enjoyable, useful teaching strategies for the students. Also these strategies should be in harmony with the students. They should meet students’ needs, interest and be according to their age, social and cultural background. A post method era teacher combines all of the useful strategies and creates new ones. In that sense, my previous EFL teachers reflect some features of this era. However, most of our lessons were in classical methods, which I think the effective ways of teaching. Generally we had a reading text, we analyzed it in terms of vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, language use. First the teacher would read the reading passage and want us to read again. The reading part was generally like that as in classical methods. However, in my opinion this was the best strategy. We usually used inductive grammar method, since we were wanted to infer the grammar rules from the text. Due to the technological inadequacies, we barely had the chance of listening, the only listening part was generally our teachers’ speaking. When it comes to language skills all of them were integrated to each other in our lessons. They were not separate. Thus, in that point the sue of this strategy reflects the post method era. Apart from this, also communication and interaction which are criteria for post method era were important in our lessons. All my EFL teachers induced us for speaking. We used a lot of group activities and role playing for the improvement of this skill. Teacher student relationship were just like in post method era, too. Our lessons were student centered, teachers were our guide. We could give feedback about the lesson to the teachers and they could give feedback to us about our progress. Thus, in these point my previous EFL teaches reflect the characteristics of post method era.
ReplyDelete2) I am opposed to using one strategy for teaching process. I want to use all of the useful strategies for the students to be an effective teacher. Depending on only one strategy can be wrong because not all strategies are fully correct or effective for students’ learning. First of all I want to be a guide to students so that they can ask everything whenever they need something. My lessons will not be neither teacher centered nor student centered because while thinking my students’ learning process, I want to be the authority, with this ability I will be able to make them study, participate to the lessons. In my lessons communication will be an important element through which I can see the improvements of my students so it is a must for me .I will try my best to induce them to communicate. All in all, I will make use of both post method era and classical methods and create my own teaching style.
3) A post method era student are absolutely active in their learning process since the teaching is centered on the students. They should like to explore everything and try to figure out the conclusions. They should know the teachers are not only for teaching a subject but also helping them in their life. They can be adaptable in every situation like their teachers. They have a lot of responsibility in the learning process because there is an active interaction between themselves and the teachers. Thus, they should be aware of the responsibilities they have. Unlike in classical methods, the students should not be passive.I can easily say that the students in Turkey are not like post method era students because post method era strategies are not so common in teaching in our country.Teachers prefer to teach in classical methods, students as a result are passive in their learning process.
1)Actually, unlike my many friends I had teachers who supported the post-method era.they all tried to give a flexible and enjoyable classroom environment. but at the same time they had certain disciplines that we had to consider. they did not follow a certain method.for instance they discussed the schedule with us and tey tried to do what we liked and enjoy most. we did advertisements, dramas etc. they all were very diffucult and demanding stuff but, however, we managed to them and we did because we liked, as well.
ReplyDelete2)to be honest ı am not sure yet whether ı would like to be a teacher or not. but ı believe that ı would a good teacher because ı am perfectionist and want everything to be perfect so when ı am preparing materials ı try them to be flawless.and also ı get frustrated when somebody does not understand what ı told. so ı would try to explain and illustrate as much as ı can so that everybody understand me. ın that sense, ı believe ı would be teacher who support the post method era
3)ı am not sure it is related with post method era but firstly a student should love lesson. ı mean he shoul care the lesson. he should do what it is expected. and he should pay attention while studying.he should be a researcher type student. nothing can be learned sitting. ı think the biggest problem of turkish student is that. they do not like researching anyway.they want everything to be easy and ready.and they want the teacher does not give many homework or tasks.shortly they are far more lazy than a typical post-method era student, unfortunately.nut the good thing is that, they can adapt every type of instruction.so ıf we give right guidance they will be ideal student!
1) I had sevveral EFL teachers in high school and all of the used different methods. However, the main aim of al teachers was to make us pay pur attention to the class and learn the language in an appropriate way. they used some authentic materials such as some magazines, postcards. They also used some movies for this. Sometimes they made us some role playing. I think, these are some useful methods for especially teenage learners.
ReplyDelete2)I think, using only one or two strategies are not enough for teaching. A teacher should benefit from all kinds of methods but not a complicated way. He/she should use thhem in a relation with each other. with the help of these methods, students can learn thre language from different aspects.
3) I think, the educational system and some conditions don't let post methods be used in the class. Because, there are lots of students and few classes for them. There are lots of students in one class. Therefore, it is nearly impossible to use this method in the class. Every student are not at the same level, they don't have the same interest. Choosing a method which is suitable for everyone is extremely difficult. Besides this, the way of making students a university student is not allowing the teachers to move on with post methods. Because the university entrance exam consists of only one aspect - reading- of the second language. Therefore, they have to use some pattern methods instead of some variable methods.
Question 1: I have had many EFL teachers in my educational life. They were commonly old ,and they were educated with the old methods. They did not believe in the truth of post method era. They think that they can easily train the EFL teachers with the classical techniques and methods. They were just writing down the grammar rules and wanted us to make sentences according to these rules. We had never been told about some more logical things. They were just interested in the application of the lesson plan. What is more, those lesson plans were not valid anymore.Yes, they were valid officially but they did no work. Because of the fact that they could not keep up with the new generation we could not get proper education. On the contarary, the post method era teachers put the importance mainly on the development of the techniques in teaching language. They are modern teachers ,and they expend energy to make the classes both instructive and joyfull.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2: First of all, I want to say that learning and teaching a new language is a hard stuff. You have to do many things to learn it so it may seem repulsive for the students. Therefore, not to make the language classes repulsive a post method era teacher should encourage his students with cheerfull class enviroment. For sure, we will have certain curriculum and lesson plans. We will have apply those kind of things but it does not mean that we will just come into the class ,and explain the grammar rules then go! In my future teaching career, I will design the classes with the students. I will orient them and then they will create their own classes. I will prepare many games, videos, charts etc. which aims language teaching. With these types of activities student will get the impression that learning a language is not boring. In addition to applying post method era features , I will not digress the curriculum.
Question 3:We can not make such an generalization as all the Turkish students are like that etc. There are many types of schools in Turkey. Let's call them private schools and public schools. To speak in general, many public school students are passive and classical students. They want everything from teachers ,and do not try to understand or learn something different. They just bound to their teachers. They do what they are told. In contrast to these types of students, private school students care about their process in the language. They are most like post method era learners. They are active in the class. The teacher is not commander but advisor. They are taught to evaluate and digest what is told to them. They know how to learn , how to ask, how to exercise. I think here is the answer: students in Turkey are divided into two groups. One is in public shools and educated with the classical methods; the other one is in private schools and educated with the post methods.
1. Actually, my previous EFL teachers were not so much dependent to only one specific method and they were also not eclectic enough to carry the characteristics of post- method era teachers. They were both flexible to some extend and bound to traditional methods conservatively and partially. They were mostly using Grammar Translation Method which is based on translation and literature and they didn’t use target language generally while they were lecturing. However, in post method era, EFL teachers are recommended to use only target language in their lectures because of the claim that the more the students endure the language as a part of their life especially in the school environment, the easier they learn and comprehend the language skills such as correct pronunciation, intonation and listening capabilities. Frankly, I can say that I had two kinds of EFL teachers when I was at high school and the first category included the teachers who wanted to be more flexible and open-minded in sense of reflecting eclecticism in selecting methods and strategies about how effective they could teach the target language, and other category included the teachers who were more dependent to traditional methods and ways of teaching. They were also uptight and a bit narrow minded in sense of pushing the students learn by only one method or strategy such as making the students write a word a hundred times to be learned by heart. When I compare my teachers with the ones from the post method era, I can explicitly state that the teachers from the first category, as I mentioned above, are much more suitable for the post method era and more competent to become one of the teachers from this era. However, I can say sincerely that the teachers from both categories absolutely have potential to be the ones alike the EFL teachers from post method era if they try more and more to be eclectic.
ReplyDelete2. I think in such an era which is full of technological and authentic materials we shouldn’t depend upon only one method, especially the ones from the methods era that we were taught in the previous term because the previous methods all were tried in so many classroom environments but, they all were found insufficient and problematic to some extend and so, I can openly say that these methods are out of fashion now and they couldn’t’ catch the technological development in some cases. Actually, we cannot find any new method or strategy in this time because we are in beyond the methods era, but we can easily choose methods or strategies from available previous methods and make them stronger with technological and authentic materials to be served to the students. Moreover, while we are choosing the strategies or methods that we should use, we should think the students’ needs and interests because in this era, maybe because of the effects of the humanistic and communicative approaches, students are required to be an active part of the lesson and the teacher should know their needs to make them actively participate throughout the lesson. For example, visual materials are rather effective in both attracting students’ attention and making the lesson more enjoyable. As an EFL teacher candidate in post method era, I am going to be eclectic enough and capable of using technological and authentic materials as essential parts of my lecture because I believe that students can learn easily and effectively in an enjoyable environment which should be also up to date and technological.
3. Post method era students have very important job because of their statue in the class environment. In post method era, the lessons are student- centered and the teacher is only the guide in the class.EFL students are responsible for their own learning process and the teachers only help when it is necessary by scaffolding, that is, s/he supports the students until they reach to the point they can continue working by themselves. Students generally work in groups and pairs to be able study in a communicative environment and they are required to make some research before coming to class in order to participate in the lesson actively. Moreover, they should involve in class discussions, roles plays and game-like activities in order to learn effectively and in an enjoyable way. Actually, teachers should also know their responsibilities in sense of supplying the students with sufficient and influential environment and encourage the students take part in the class activities in order to create a cooperative but not competitive learning environment. In Turkey, the lessons are mostly teacher- centered and students are as passive parts of the lessons. The teachers can be counted as guides to some extend but the students don’t participate in actively enough the lessons. Learning process mostly include teacher based lecture and just sitting and note taking students. Students generally wait lots of things from teacher maybe because they think it is the responsibility of teacher to make every researches for the lesson Actually, in recent years there are some developments about this system in Turkey such as making the students more active in class by dividing them into groups to work in groups cooperatively and giving them project homework in order to make them research some topics before coming class or memorizing the subjects after the class, but I am not sure whether it is as effective as it should be or not.

ReplyDelete1) Starting to learn English in 6th grade, I have a variety of English teachers so I cannot make a generalisation. My first English teacher, I strongly believe that, was a really good example of post-modern era teachers. She was good at lowering inhibitions thanks to her various classroom activities also those activities and games were useful for making a cooperative, warm class atmosphere. We never was afraid of asking questions because we knew that we were welcomed. To have such qualified teacher was a chance for us who learnt a foreign language for the first time. That made a possitive effect both on us and our idea about English. When I came to highschool's 9th grade, I cannot say the same things. We just focused on learning more about gramer as much as possible. Post- modern era teachers help students to develop instrinsic motivation by telling them how much English is important and about employment possibilities. Yes, our teacher did the same he always ''reminded'' us those issues, but because of the tone and way he speak with us, instead of encouraging us, those words made us lose our motivation to learn and even some students' love for English. Teachers should be construstive not destructive in their views about students. However I chose English as my section and my new teacher was one of the best examples of post-modern era teachers. We were prepering for exam and we were really depressed, we felt like lost, etc. and our teacher was like a ''lifeguard'' to us. He motivated us, made us consruct self-confidence, self-belief. He believed us till the end so did we. He was not the authority but he built a well-balanced class atmosphere. As I said before, I had many kinf of teacher so to make a comment on general is not possible, but I can say that the ones who is successfull in having a good communication with students, the ones who can understand the situation, psychology, etc. the students are in, the ones who encourage them to want more, to belive themselves and set their aims, the one who see the errors and mistakes of students are necessary and can make those work for good of students are the good representative of the era for me.
ReplyDelete2) Honestly for now, I cant see my self as a prospective teacher. I still dont belive in my teaching skills. So the that I will be a bad teacher who cannot explain the things really discourage me. Neverthless, I belive that apart from the ''teaching'' part, I'm sure that I'll be a enthusiastic, colorful, energitic teacher. I'll want them to have their goal related to English, try to make a colorful classroom atmosphere and make them feel that they are discoverers and enjoy learning new things. Most of the student cannot ask question because they are afraid of being insulted because they ask such ''ridiculus'', unnecessary question or dont tell the teacher that there are some parts they couldnt understand. So that I will encourage them to ask more and make them belive that when they ask for anything they're welcomed. Actually it's not just because of the attitude of the teacher but also they feel embarrassed infront of their class mates and is afraid of being mocked by them. So a teacher shoul be aware of this and be sure that he or she makes a colloborating classroom atmosphere.
ReplyDelete3)In our society not only the students but also the parents wait everything to be done by teachers. Students do not like student-oriented classroom that much even they claim the against because they dont want to be asked to do so much activities both in and outside the class. Unlike the post-modern era students who are encouraged, heve self-confidence, intrinsicly motivated, risk takers, unfortunately our students live and think according to the exams because of the education system and the society factor.
1-) In my English Language teaching years, ı have many different teachers from different approaches and techniques. Some of them have old habit of teaching and some of them have post method era thoughts. Classical Method teachers want students read and remember all things. I have this kind of teachers. They have strict rules and techniques. According to them effective learning can be provided only by reading and repeating. This can be very useful in vocabulary teaching. Repetition help us learn the words but in other skills classical method is useless. On the other hand ı have post methods era teachers. They use different kind of techniques for different skills and these techniques are interesting and effective in language teaching. They are more pragmatic and useful. Especially listening and writing skills are important in post methods era. I have a teacher with post method era thoughts. He always give importance to speaking and listening. He wants us to prepare role plays presentations, 5minutes speakings..etc. All these improve our listening and speaking. Unlike first classical method teacher, students like this new pragmatic teacher.
ReplyDelete2-)I like post methods teacher so ı think in the future ı will be a post methods teacher. Post methods teacher are good at teaching daily use of language and ı think using language is more important than reading and translating a novel. Group works and social activities in teaching are more important for post methods teacher and ı thing it is an effective way of language teaching. I will choose different techniques from different approaches according to what ı teach. This may be the hardest way but it is the effective way of language teaching. We have learned many techniques and approaches. Some of them is useful and some of them is not. I will pick the most effective ones for special teaching purposes.
3-)Post Method students should be more hardworking and interested in learning. Because teacher is only a guide for post methods students so students should work themselves and want to work. They should find most effective way of learning. Teacher do not order them to do something, he only gives the direction and students have to do everything themselves. However, Turkish students are very lazy and teacher as a guide is meaningless for some of them. They want a director in the lessons in order to learn something.
(a)Honestly speaking, none of my teacher was as flexible as the ones in the post-method-era. They generally have their own ways of transmitting knowledge and teaching a second language. I can even say that some of them have limited perspectives. However, I must admit that I owe all the things I know to my teachers. I know that each teacher has his/her own style but I can not relate my teachers to the post-method-era strategy users.
ReplyDelete(b)I can not surely say that I will be a post-method-era teacher but, I know that things will be better in terms of both students and me if I try to use That methods. The interaction between us can be better. They can bravely participate in classroom activities. I can make my lessons more colourfull and informative by using those methods.
(c)In Turkey students are generally passive and they need encouragement to take part in activities held in classroom. They had to learn how to self-motivate and self-monitor. However, in post-method-era students do not need that kind of encouragement because teachers role is only to guide students. Considering these we can say that they are quite different.
a) Throughout my school years, I have had very different kinds of teachers. Some of them are very creative and successful and they could implement activities according to post-method era. However, some of them were really teachers of Grammar-Translation Method. They were just giving us the texts which we were supposed to read and find the vocabulary of it and then they were trying to teach us the grammar rules just by writing on the board. So they were not like post method era teachers. In high school, i had a teacher and she was pretty good at teaching because she was using different techniques to make us reading the text that we were supposed to read. She was bringing different topics to the class and we were reading them interedtedly and we were supposed to find the meaning by ourselves. She was giving us free time to study and she was doing some speaking activities. Therefore, I can say she was like post method era teachers and I used to like her style of teaching.
ReplyDeleteb) We have learned so many teaching methods, principles and techniques and when we were studying them we saw that none of them was perfectly correct and all of them had weaknesses. Hence, I believe that getting stuck with just one method is not proper for teaching EFL. When I become an EFl teacher, I will constitue my own teaching method from techniques which are from different kinds of methods and I believe this method will have some elements from post method era because post method era has very good features in terms of teaching. For example, post method era teachers are very selecting ,flexible and open-minded and I want to have these features too.
c) Since in post method era teachers are only guide, EFL students should be responsible for their own learning. They should know how to study on their own. They are active learners . however, in Turkey students are very passive and they expect all the things from the teacher and they wnat to be managed and they don’t want to do anything on their own. Of course among them, there are clever and active students but it does not change the general situation. Turkish children are some kind of lazy students.
Throughout my school life-primary and high school- I can say that I have not seen an EFL teacher who adopted the norms of post method teaching successfully. To be sincere, I can say that most of my EFL teachers were insufficient even in the field of English. Most of them didn’t have a good command of subjects. Especially in primary school my English lessons were totally disastrous. Although I liked that course very much when I was a young student, I was reluctant to attend English courses. Most of my EFL teachers were trainees; because of this reason even though they were good at English they didn’t have good management skill which is a significant factor for a good learning environment. We were just following the instructions in the book, and as most of other people complain the only focus of the courses were grammar. I don’t remember doing any kind of speaking, listening or writing activity at all for all my primary and high school education. One of the most miserable experiences of my school life was having an EFL teacher who is not even a graduate of English Language Teaching department. He was graduated from the faculty of architecture of METU and appointed as an EFL teacher to our school. In this situation there is no need to talk about his effectiveness in teaching English
ReplyDeleteIn high school the situation hanged a bit. Although the first preparatory year was a total waste of time for us, I can say that it was better compared to previous years. Despite having English courses per week, we barely had speaking or listening activities. The situation didn’t change much when I attended to language class after one year. Having a good knowledge of grammar, at the last year, we studied for the multiple choice test of ÖSYM and finally managed to get the right to attend METU. Within the first year of our university life, we began to learn how to express ourselves in English, how to write or how to understand a person speaking English, and we still continue to learn. In this situation I think it would be a bit absurd to talk about how effectively did our EFL teachers used the Post Method Era’s techniques. However despite all these facts, I see the future of EFL teachers quite successful thanks to precious efforts of the instructors’ both in METU and in the other universities.
1).Unfortunately, none of my teachers reflected post method era because of not
ReplyDeletebeing so knowledgeable about his/her profession. We were just taught grammar and some reading passages. We were not taught how to improve our vocabulary or reading skills. We were just supposed to learned it by ourselves. But in high school when I entered to private college my English improved bacuase my teachers were very professional and most of them educated abroad. We were not just taught English,we played some games, did some practice including our subject. And I learned how to use English productively.Of course I did not take the advantage of English sufficiently in high school but I learned many things. Now I am still in the stage of imporeving my English.
2).Actually, to be honest it is so difficult to be a prospective post method era teacher.Of course it is individual. Firstly, we have to love our profession before teaching it to students. For example, I like to teach something to students but I am not patient so I don’t think I would be a effective teacher but I believe there will be very effective teacher from our class especially girls. The most important thing in teaching English is to make the students to love it.And we have to accept some situations in advance.Bacuase we will face some problems during our teaching times. We have to be aware of the situation that all student aren’t in the same mind.I mean we have to be ready to all positions and student’s needs must be provided.
3).I think a typical postmethod EFL student should be active during the lesson and should take some responsibilities.Because teacher cant teach everything.His/her task is to teach English encourage the students to learn it. But improving it ups to the student. Being active during the lesson and asking questions when you don’t know is very important. For example, I am not active and talkative person and I can see its negative effect. The reason why I cant speak fluently related to this.We just listen to the lesson and don’t do anything to improve it.So, a typical postmethod EFL student should take some responsibilities.

ReplyDeleteMy previous teachers were generally using traditional methods, except one. Most of the teachers' basic teaching was dependent on Grammar Translation Method; however, I cannot exactly say that it was just all. Even though my high school years were a little bit ordinary whenwe examine from the teaching perspective, I cannot say that all of my teachers sticked to only one method, they did not do that, but I think that the difference is realated to their education style, I mean that they were also in these classes and they were not as lck as us, therefore, I believe that the reason why my previous teachers did not have exactly the characteristics of post-modern era is their way of being educated, my claim is that it has something to do with age, because one of my English teachers was newly-graduated and with her, our lessons were not like the other teachers.
2)As the teacher of the feature, I can say that I will not be a strict teacher, I will not be strict neither in my lessons nor my perspective of techniques. I will not be stick to only one method or technique, because I know that it will not help my students' needs. The only way to help students improve themselves is to provide them meaningful context. If lesson is carried out in a meaningful context in an enjoyable way, I believe that no student can resist learning it! So, I will be a man of mixtures in the lesson, and I am fof the post-method era.
3)In Turkey, the biggest problem is that teachers are not encouragin their pupils and therefore students become passive learners, if we can call them as "learners". A student should have the cuiosity to acquire the kowledge, he should be open to questioning, he should be always active, because the only way to (really) learn something is to question and run after it. An EFL student should be active in all directions, because it is a language and its culture which are being learned, and think about it in the way that what does a baby when he is learning his language? He is always activei right? He never stops, always wonders new things, tries to pronounce different words, learns different behaviours, different mimics... An EFL student should be just like that!

1)Luckily, I had very good English teachers in my high school. Thery were very enjoyable people and they always adopted a system which was full of inovations. They were far from teaching traditionally. I can say that they were using the post method area techniques. It is impossible to get bored in their classes. They were very productive. They never lean on just one or two classic methods. Thery were always doing things which were beneficial for the students. I can simply say that I absolutely want to be a teacher like them.
ReplyDelete2)It is sure for me that I will not be traditional teacher. I am going to follow the post method era teacher. Because, I am the one who is looking for alternative ways to do something. And I will try to find alternative ways to teach a subject efficiently. Honestly, making teacher is one of the most difficult jobs in the world and it is very tiring also being a post method era teacher makes thing much more difficult. But I think I have full of energy and I can use my potential to teach the students in a modern way. I will use Integrate Learning Skills because I believe not every student learns in the same way. I will use abundant ways of teaching and I will try to be enjoyable when I become a teacher.
3)A post method era student should not be totally depend on his teacher. He should be productive in the guideliness of his teacher. He sould be active of course. He should take part in almost all the class activities. Being shy should not be one of his features. The students should question the things they learn so that the material which is learnt can be permanent. They should feel free and tell opinions without hesitation. But most students in Turkey do not have these qualificaitions in my opinion. They are very shy or pretend to be shy. They avoid taking responsibility. Also they never question what they learn, they accept things without questioning.Besides, they have a lack of curiosity. They just sit down and stand up when the class is over. They try to be passive as much as they can do. It is not true for all the students in Turkey. Some students are very active in class but they are less in number. But the idea of post method era is getting wider and our students will be keep up with this method I think.
1. Most of my previous EFL teachers were not post method era teachers. They had some principles and did not seem so willing to change them. Almost all lessons were based on explaining the grammar rules and applying them to sentences, acquiring new vocabulary by learning their Turkish equivalences. But there were also some creative teachers who used various activities to attract our attention, encouraged us to speak English, integrate the language skills reading, writing, speaking, listening . They tried to do their job professionally, so I can say among my high school teachers, there were some who bear characteristics of post method era.
ReplyDelete2. In my opinion, having the theoretical knowledge and being able to put them into practice are different from each other. I may have enough theoretical knowledge to be a post method era teacher but I may not be able to apply them in real classroom. I think it has something to do with personality. So I am not sure whether I am a post method era teacher or not. Anyway I have some ideas about how I can be a post method era teacher. First of all, I must know the needs of my students and be able to meet all them. I must be able to attract their attention by using enjoyable activities. I must contextualize the lesson and integrate language skills. Considering what the students may need later in their lives, I must provide them with necessary knowledge and skill.
3. The aim of a post method era student, I think, is learning not being taught by the teacher. He/ she should ways to learn the language, not expect everything from the teacher. One of my principles is that one must learn by doing, so a language learner must always engage in language learning activities which involve speaking, writing, listening and reading. Students in Turkey do not reflect the profile of a post method era student unfortunately because lesson are teacher centered and they expect everything from the teacher. They do not do extra things to learn.
1. My previous English teachers were very effective in the class, I think. Because we were in Anatolian Teacher Training High School, English was really important to us. The teachers were aware of it and used creative techniques. The lessons were usually not boring. They tried to make us more involved with the subject. For this, they used post method era techniques. They allocated one hour a week for speaking. Every month, we prepared a poster about the units we learn. The activities like these brought our creativity to light and developed our skills.
ReplyDelete2. Through my high school years, I've always heard my friends saying 'I hate English!' These words made me feel sorry because I find learning any foreign language, not only English, very interesting and enjoyable. So, the first thing i would apply to my class would be to make students be aware of learning a foreign languge is actually fun if I became an English teacher. My lessons would be extraordinary with different activities in every lesson. I would always do researches before every lesson to find different activities which are appropriate for their both level and interests. With this way, I would make the class enjoyable and lesson informative.
3. Post Method Era students should be active, first of all. Because if they just come to the class and listed to the teacher inactively, they can not learn what the teacher say, even if they learn, they will soon forget certain things. They should participate in classroom activities, give direction to the going of the lesson by telling the class their opinions, doing the activities on the board sometimes. They sould not expect the teacher to do everything for them. They must contribute to the content of the lesson.
1) I had very different Enlish teachers thoroughout my school years. Some of them were very effective and successful according to post-method era. However, some of them were insufficient even in the field of English. They were using structural techniques like GTM. They always thought language rules explicitly and they did not use any context unlike post-method era. Sometimes, we made some different activities such as playing card games, making interview, reading and listening activities; however, they were rare. The reason for that is that they gave more attention to grammar because they were excellent just about grammer. On the other hand, post-method era teachers are open minded and effective, so my aim is to be one like them.
ReplyDelete2)2) I think teaching English is hard job and The teacher should create colorful, informative, and enjoyable. Even in my second year in university, I have learned so much about methods and techniques, and I can also observe their disadvantages and advantages and how they can be used efficiently. A language teacher should be flexible, open minded, and s/he should use lots of activity to make lesson more active.
3)Post Method Efl students should be aware of that they are the center of the education. They must be willing, active and aware. They have to use the teacher as a guide, they have to benefit from their teacher as much as they can without waiting something from the teacher passively. I can say that the students in Turkey are still reamain passive. But I can say that it is not only because of them, it also because of the teachers who still use very old methods. In addition, students in Turkey getting more active day by day as I witnessed.
1) I remember my previous ELF teachers as far away from reflecting the Post-Methods Era. Most of the time they were stick to old methods like Grammar Translation Method. They also did not make much use of inductive teaching. Their lessons were filled with just deductive grammar teaching and some reading activities included in our text books. I also remember one of my teachers always giving us a list of new vocabulary and wanting us to remember them. Teaching vocabulary through different activities and especially in a given context would absolutely much better, but unfortunately we were supposed to memorize tens of words and then forget most of them in a few weeks. In my opinion, like most of the teachers in Turkey, mu previous teachers, although having some successful techniques, should make some research on different methods and approaches to ELT and bring variety to their classes rather then being stick to only one – usually an old one – method.
ReplyDelete2) After having learned about lost of methods and approaches for language teaching, I can surely say that it is not so easy for any single method to be sufficient to teach a language. As language is a whole with all its culture and fuctions, teaching it requires the use of many different techniques. Considering this, I try to apply various aspect of various methods to my teaching philosophy. It is not so easy for me to say to what extend I see myself as a post-method era teacher, but at least, I know that I should make use of any useful technique from any method, I see students at the center of the teaching process and I believe there should be enjoying elements included in a lesson, all which prevents a teacher from picking up a single method and ignoring the rest.
3) I think a postmethod EFL students is always at the center of the process and based on this idea, they should be actively taking part in their learning. They also should be encouraged to express their ideas and make suggestions about the activities, techniques ets to be used. A postmethod EFL student should never be passive and waiting for everything from the teacher, on the contrary s/he should possess the feeling of responsibility, will to make researches and to learn. Lastly, the idea that learning the lessons are enough for a student should be changed and they should be encouraged and guided by their teachers not only to learn the curriculum, but also develop intellectually and personally. Unfortunately, this frame of student is much different from the general student picture in Turkey in that our students are generally just the ones unwilling to learn, unwilling to develop themselves, quite passive and lacking the ability to take responsibilities. At this point, changing our students in other words our future is mainly the responsibility of the teachers.
1-I can divide my previous EFL teachers into two groups basically. The first group used to teach in prep class and the others were in other grades. When I was in prep class, the teachers were very modern and used to integrate almost every kind of language teaching into classroom. They were very flexible and had great insight into students needs. Although the class hours were quite many, we not only learned a lot about every aspect of language learning but also had fun. Today, with my knowledge about post-method era teaching, I am able to evaluate their teaching skills more efficiently and I think that they were close to post-method era in their principles.
ReplyDeleteAs for the others I had in other grades, they were typical Grammar Translation Method teachers who were quite conventional. The classes were like nightmare because they were not good at applying post-method era principles into the classes which made students even more bored. We could have chance to participate in the classes only to some extent because the teacher was the center and we were like guests. In addition, the classes were clourless and lacked flexibility and creativity which are essential in gaining student attention and realizing full-capacity success. Actually I don't blame them for all the things, and I appreciate their efforts to teach us, because the problem was not only in teachers; it was in the system basically. We had exams and the classes were loaded with materials beneficial for us to be successful in them.
After evaluating basically my previous EFL teachers, now I can say that post-method era teachers are eclectic and quite efficient in applying various language skills in their classes. In addition, they are creative and flexible which makes the classes much more entertaining. In their classes, students are not like guests as I mentioned above, on the contrary, the classes are full of information exchange between students and teachers. They don't hesitate to try new principles to enhance the teaching activity and they know what responses most to students needs.
2- Although I am just a second-year university student now, I know basic things about post-method era and I believe that I can success to apply them in my classes to a great extent. The main reason I think that I can be a successful post-method era teacher is my personality. When I was younger especially, I was looking for action, creativity and flexibility in all the classes and I know how students feel in 'conventional' and 'colourless' classes. I can understand them very well and as I am quite fond of creativity myself, I wont let them down in that. Also, I believe that every student is unique and this will create a harmony in my classes and I will make use of them separately which will make the classes even more entertaining. For keeping them awake and willing to learn, first of all, I will give them the conscious to 'learn' in life. Only when they are aware what they are doing and why they are doing can they use their potential to the full.
ReplyDelete3-A post method EFL student is an active, curious, conscious learner. He/she knows what to learn, why to learn and gather the information himself if necessary. He doesn't believe the given information blindly and makes researches about the topic and question them before accepting. He comes to class with great urge to learn and makes his preparations beforehand. During the classes, he actively participates in lectures and they enjoy various activities. They sometimes even determine the flow of lessons by suggesting different activities. They are like a co-worker of the teacher rather than a guest in the class. Considering them, students in Turkey, unfortunately, not like this. We can not blame them for this but they are accustomed to teacher-based learning and they find it useless or difficult to contribute to classes except when it is compulsory. They are exam-targeted which makes them value only the information necessary for the exams. There are various reasons for this but the consequence is that they lose their creativity, willingness, awareness and the importance of self-awareness and self-discovery, self-esteem for learning.
1. My previous EFL teachers were not reflecting the characteristics of the post-method era. They stuck to old-fashioned methods. The lesson was dull and over-informative. At the end of the classes, I was mostly confused and disturbed by the over informative 45 minutes. Despite the fact that I had too many traditonal EFL teachers, I had some EFL teachers who were reflecting the characteristic of post-method era. For example, one of my EFL teachers in high school made us teach one specific grammar subject to our friends, and he wanted us to use a creative teaching way. It was really enjoyable even one day to feel like a teacher in front of the classroom. Another good example is my elementary school EFL teacher. He would prepare cards for teaching vocabulary. For our every correct answer while making the exercises, he would give us one flashcard containing a new word. It was quite useful,I think. Other than some good examples, my previous EFL teachers would use traditional teaching methods in general.
ReplyDelete2. In my opinion teaching should be enjoyable and effective. Therefore, as a teacher, I would try my best to make lesson enjoyable as much as possible. Because, as a student I got tired of dull and over-informative lessons. To do this, I would try to involve students to lesson as much as possible by giving useful tasks to do for them. Other than this, I would teach them to use language for their pragmatic purposes. For example, I have been learning English for many years. However, I still lack some communicative skills. Therefore, I would focus on improving students’ communicative skills in target language. I would use native language as little as possible. It’s really hard to be a post-method era teacher, but I will try my best to be such a teacher.
3. Post-method era student should be active during the learning process. He is aware of the fact that the teacher is only a guide for his learning process and he should make the effort for his own learning. He should be responsible for his learning and act accordingly. He should be eager and ready for learning. He should also be investigative and researcher on his subject matter. He should always seek for learning something new. However, Turkish students do not always comform with these characteristics. They are generally silent and passive during lessons. They also regard it as a burden when a teacher gives them some topic to search about. All in all, school life is generally seen as a burden by Turkish students.
1-I remember being taught with grammar translation method and with post era methods. My teachers used the old method in order to teach us grammer by explaining the rules, show these at sample sentences and let us build our own sample sentences in order to check if we had understand the rules. However, they were not single sided and monotonous. They also used different activities as they taught us reading ,writing or speaking. My favourite skills were the listening ones because we mostly listen to music, which I enjoyed much.
ReplyDelete2)We learned a lot of diffrent methods which we can use in our lessons. Not every method is fit my style of teaching.I think I will mix the different methods so that I take the positive sides of each method.
ReplyDeleteI will give great importance to the motivation of the class. They should not be bored or desinterested in my lesson.I will do my best to make them happy students who enjoy learning.Especially the ones who think that they are not able to learn a language.
3-First of all post era method students should be motivated to learn new things. They have to be interested in the lesson. The teacher tries his best best there will be times when even the teacher makes mistakes.Students should always be awaken. They have to take part willingly.Being passive, coming to class with no retention and going home with no new learned stuff, they will only make a false to themselves.
ReplyDelete1)Actually, my previous teachers were sticked to some techniques like worksheets, tests, reading exercises, etc. They never used new and more applicable techniques. So, they were not reflecting the characteristics of the post-method era in their teaching methods. They were all using the most common and classical methof: Grammar Translation Method.
ReplyDelete2) I don't want to be sticking to one method or some common mix of methods. So, i choose to use useful aspects of every method changing according to the physcical conditions which are student profile, classroom conditions, etc. I will be a teacher who is following all the developments in the area and will apply the new and untried methods bravely to my lessons. In my opinion, the old methods should be revised by the teacher according to necessities of the lesson sometimes. The teacher should be capable of applying every method in a rational way.
3)A post-method learner of English is different from a Turkish learner in many ways i guess. The reason why they are different is that Turkish teachers are generally not applying new methods to their lessons. They commonly use the generally accepted strategies. The post-method era students are better than a Turkish learner in terms of individual aspects like self-confidence, knowing his/her own way of learning, knowing the best way to improve his/her knowledge, etc. Turkish learners are generally bad at communication skills and they are not aware of themselves.
1-)My previous teachers were using most traditional methods simply to say Grammar Translation Method.Theywere using course books and we were learning the differences between syntactic structures through multiple choice questions. However they were flexible about that we wonder and ask questions, show our potential and differences.
ReplyDelete2-I can not simply say I will be a Post Method teacher. The situations and learner's profile are different. But I can say that the interaction would be different from the traditional methods. I don't want to teach them English just for the sake of knowing English. So their feelings and thoughts are very essential for me.The activities, techniques, procedure of the lesson or the ingredients of the method should be arranged to the situation and learners.
3-)Turkish teachers are generally using Direct Method, grammar Translation Method etc.So the learners are passive and i,n time lose their communicative efficiencies. A Post Method era student is different, more curious and active. Also post method era sudent takes his/her learning resposibility.
